Welcome to the Tucker residence!  This beautiful home is nestled in one of Palmetto's most sought-after neighborhoods and is situated on picturesque 4th street, which runs along the Manatee River.  Once a former Baptist parsonage, this residence has been home to the Tucker family since 2014.  The lush landscaping and mature oak trees set the stage for this historic home, which was originally built in 1925.  While many of the beautiful features are original to the home, the Tuckers have enjoyed updating it by creating a harmonious mix of traditional southern elegance with a contemporary aesthetic, making it both timeless and fresh.

From the moment you enter, you are greeted by an open, airy living room with high ceilings and natural light coming in from the home’s many large windows.  The design style in this room is largely inspired by The Gasparilla Inn & Club in Boca Grande, where the family visits often for special holidays.  The homeowners’ love of blue chinoiserie pottery can be found throughout the home as well as numerous mementos from their various travels.

Just off the kitchen, the dining room is perfect for hosting formal meals or casual family dinners.  It connects to the living room, which makes for easy entertaining, which is perfect for the Tuckers, as they entertain family and friends often.

Not to be overlooked is the outdoor living space.  There is a screened-in sleeping porch, which is original to the home and opens up from the living room.  It was one of the things the couple fell in love with when first viewing this home.  The haint blue ceiling with beadboard, brick and screened-in area make for a perfect spot to enjoy the Florida breeze and relax with a book or an after-dinner glass of wine.  It still is one of Sarah’s favorite spots in the house, especially when it rains.

You may recognize tastemaker, Sarah, from the many online and print outlets she is featured in, such as Southern Living, Garden and Gun, J. McLaughlin, Dillard’s, UTC, to name a few, or on her blog, sarah-tucker.com.

For the Hearts and Homes tour, enjoy seeing her style in person!
